Dietitians & Nutritionists
A dietitian is an expert in nutrition and food. Dietitians promote good health through healthy eating and ensuring you eat the correct foods. They also supervise the preparation and service of food, participate in research, develop modified diets, and educate individuals and groups on good nutritional habits to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Only UK Dieticians are nutrition professionals and are to be statutorily regulated, and governed by an ethical code, to ensure that all work is to the highest possible standard. The title dietitian can only be used by appropriately trained professionals who are registered with the Health Professions Council.
A nutritionist is not currently a protected term. Anyone in the UK can refer to themselves a nutritionist without any formal qualifications. Different organisations promoting holistic and alternative therapies may use their own criteria to define a nutritionist.
Medical Malpractice Insurance is important for both nutritionists and dieticians. Professional Insurance Agents can provide online quotes for all qualified or accredited professionals. Those who are not qualified or accredited can still obtain cover by completing a proposal form and returning it to us so that we can go to the market to obtain the most competitive terms.
